3. Start painting!
4. Store at room temperatures with the lid secured.

What are Mural Pens made of?
Mural Pens are filled with a special blend of acrylic paint that has been designed to have the perfect flow on walls.

What can I paint on with Mural Pens?
Mural Pens are perfect for painting straight onto walls! You can also paint on wood, canvas, glass, fabric, ceramic, metal, rocks, and more.

Are Mural Pens Permanent?
Mural Pens are permanent on porous surfaces (e.g. won’t come off walls/wood/etc).

Mural Pens are semi-permanent on non-porous surfaces (e.g. looks good if left alone on glass/metal/etc but can scratch off easily).

Mural Pens are artist-quality; light-fast/fade resistant. They are made out of a special blend of acrylic paint.

What does porous/non-porous mean?
A porous surface allows the paint to flow through the layers/texture and adhere more readily, non-porous materials have a tighter cell structure preventing ease of flow and a more surface-level adherence. Glass, metal, plastic, and varnished wood are examples of non-porous materials, while raw wood, fabric, carpet, and cardboard are porous.

What is each size of Mural Pen best for?
5mm is your go-to Mural Pen for line work as well as filling in small-ish areas. 1mm is great for adding details, fine lines, or smaller artworks. 8mm is ideal for thick lines and filling in areas.

How long does one Mural Pen last?
In general, I use around 2x 5mm pens per medium mural. It really depends, sorry to be vague! Let me explain. I’ve once painted a 3-meter-squared wall and used 10 pens, and then done the same size using just 1 pen. It depends on how large your artwork is, whether you’re doing line work or filling in, what surface you’re painting on, and how intricate your artwork is. I’ve designed the paint to give a thick opaque coverage, while also lasting a long time. It’s safer to order a few more pens and have some leftover for your next project, rather than running out mid-project!

How do I prep my surface before painting with Mural Pens?
If it’s an already-painted wall - go for it! If you’re painting on raw wood - you can either paint straight away or you can prime/seal it with gesso or another type of primer. Either is fine - primed/prepped wood will soak up less paint than raw wood. I recommend asking a hardware store/art shop or researching on google/youtube to explain your exact details to find the best solution for your specific situation. Order some pens and try it out for yourself! Learning through experimenting is the most valuable experience.

How do I protect my artwork after painting with Mural Pens?
You can seal your new painting with a water-based clear spray varnish (go to an art shop, hardware store, or online store, I recommend “Golden MSA Archival Spray Varnish”). However, this is not always necessary - I only varnish about half of my murals depending on the environment it is in and how much contact it will be having.

If using varnish; use spray varnish only. Mural Pens, and most other paint pen brands, will run/bleed if varnish (or any other medium) is applied with a roller or a brush.

Safety Information
Mural Pens have passed USA and Europe testing standards: EN71, SDS, ASTM D-4236, TRA.
